Supreme Court's verdict would be announced on 28 Aug on UGC Exam
Guidelines and whether final year/semester university exams 2020 should be
cancelled or not.
The court had reserved its verdict on August 18 and had given all the parties three days time to present their final arguments. The Supreme Court would decide on whether the final year degree examinations should be held before September 30.
Many students, parents and teachers had urged that the exams be cancelled and the results
of the students be calculated on the basis of their internal assessment
or past performance.
This whole issue is nothing but a mischief of the State Governments, especially in non-NDA ruled states. The universities which are opposing the UGC guidelines are mainly in these non -NDA rules states.
UGC had only said that the universities must conduct the exams, whether online or office. Because the top universities of the world were also conducting the final exams. UGC did not stop the universities to include previous performance, internal assessment, projects etc from being used to assess in the final exam. UGC had hinted that the final exam is only a formality and just do anything. Do formality and assess the students in any way and declare the result as if they were really the Final Exam Results as they were being declared in the previous years.
But the universities in the non-NDA states made a mountain out of a molehill; and took the matter to the court.
Now, who is suffering? Only the students.
